Korg FireWe are giving a lecture at the Game Audio Summit at GDC Austin 09.

Our lecture “Ninja Sound: Creating Deadly Small Footprint Audio on Portable Platforms“  will go over what we have learned in 6 years of working on low ram/rom platforms i.e. NDS, PSP, iPhone, Flash,  and Plug n’ Play TV games.

Here is some info from the GDC Website.

Session Description
Some of video games greatest scores came from a time when a composer only had 2 pulse, 1 triangle and a noise wave, at their disposal. Dani Zuniga and Simar Bal of Laughing Ear have an extensive list of titles on platforms that use low CPU, ROM, and RAM. See how you can use these limitations on hand held and other small footprint platforms to your sonic advantage.

Takeaway
Attendees of this session will learn how to use midi, samples sets, volume envelopes, and looping beyond their traditional use. Saving RAM and ROM while adding variety and quality to the sonic landscapes they make for handhelds and other small foot print audio.
